What is nano-technology? How do I benefit from nano-hemp products?

First to understand nano-tech or nano-hemp products and their use within the cannabis industry, you must first understand the human digestive track’s ability for absorption and understand the term bioavailable.

What does bioavailable mean?

According to Websters Dictionary - a drug or other substance entering the circulation when introduced into the body and so able to have an active effect.

When extraction occurs with cannabis the resulting product is called crude oil and consists of cannabinoids, fats, and terpenes in the form of a long molecular chain. This compound’s size is too big for absorption through the stomach wall lining and the molecular chain gets pushed into your liver resulting in the cannabinoids being metabolized or converted into other compounds such as 11-hydroxy. This process can take up to 90 minutes in some cases for activation and results in a lower bioavailability of the targeted compounds. Ultimately your body is peeing out what you paid for because cannabinoids are not water soluble meaning they bond to fats and that increases the bioavailability.

So, how do we increase the bioavailability of a compound which increases its effectiveness?

Nanotechnology

This approach breaks the molecular chain down into single cannabis molecules free from that chain. The cannabinoids actually pass through the stomach lining entering your bloodstream then passing through the blood brain barrier. The result is a fast acting effect more similar to when cannabis is smoked. Within 5 minutes you can feel the effects of the edible giving the user the desired effects of unaltered cannabinoids for 30 or so minutes. This is called the first pass because the substance entered the bloodstream and passed through the blood brain barrier. Essentially the cannabinoid is broken down where it bypasses all your body's natural filtration making the cannabinoid more bioavailable.

Second pass occurs when the blood that is carrying the cannabinoids enters the liver where you get the traditional edible process but in a far more efficient way. This means a 5x increase in bioavailability translates to a 5x the milligram dosage resulting in the desired effects with less waste.

Are these legal in my state?

Some restrictions may apply. Not for sale where Delta-9 is prohibited by law including these states: Arizona, Idaho, Nebraska, and Pennsylvania. Check your local laws before purchase. All delta-9 is naturally derived and unaltered from hemp oil.

Is Delta 9 THC Legal?

Short answer: when it’s derived from hemp in concentrations of less than 0.3% by dry weight, yes!

In 2018 Congress passed the 2018 Farm Bill, which removed hemp as a federally controlled substance. It also says that any hemp and hemp-derived products that contain less than 0.3% THC by dry weight are considered federally legal in the United States. By this definition, all of our Delta 9 THC products are federally compliant under the standards set by the 2018 Farm Bill. Let’s do the math:

  • One Happy Face Delta 9 THC chocolate weighs about 30 grams, or 30000 milligrams.

  • If we take 0.003 (which is 0.3%) and multiply that by 30000, we are left with 90 milligrams.

  • That means that according to the Farm Bill, a 30 gram gummy can contain up to 90 mg of hemp-derived Delta 9 THC.

  • We formulated our Delta 9 chocolates with only 20 mg of naturally hemp derived Delta 9 THC, which means the amount of THC we use in our chocolates is well below the legal amount.

  • But don’t worry, you’ll still feel it working!

We test each of our product batches at independent ISO 17025 certified labs (this just means that the lab is accredited for product testing, sampling, and calibration) to ensure quality and consistency. We also provide those test results right on our product pages so you can see what exactly is in each batch yourself.

  • Some restrictions may apply. Not for sale where hemp extract Delta-9-THC is prohibited by law. Check your local laws before purchase.

About us

Happy face edibles are handcrafted in our commercial kitchen right on the Umpqua River in Oakland, Oregon.

Happy Face Edibles is company that started making cannabis products 10 years ago for the owner's terminally ill father.

“My father's quality of life improvement was due to cannabis use and for 3 years his life was just suffering until cannabis. This was the moment I realized the power of this plant and that I would fight against the injustices committed against the American population for the monetary gain of pharmaceutical industries. People like my father deserve better and to be shown a path towards improvement in their quality of life and this is what I've dedicated my life to helping with.”
